  • 200 grams oyster mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust according to spice preference)
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish


  • Clean the oyster mushrooms by gently wiping them with a damp cloth or paper towel. Tear them into smaller, bite-sized pieces.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • Add the tomato puree and cook for a few minutes until the oil separates from the masala.
  • Add the oyster mushrooms and stir well to coat them with the masala. Cook for 6-8minutes until the mushrooms are tender.
  • Sprinkle garam masala over the mushrooms and mix well.
  • Remove from heat, garnish with fresh cilantro leaves, and serve hot with rice or roti
